  1. Must be the season. Just yesterday, I was reminiscing about late 1950s kiddie shows on Denver and local television. One, Captain Glen’s Funwagon, always played a WWII-era Popeye cartoon that now seems a bit odd, but odder yet was how he did live commercials for the potato chips and other sponsors, definitely old-time television even by the late 50s. Fred and Fae were notable because Fred’s voice was higher than Fae’s and Fae had a butch haircut, though I think they called the style “pixie” then. They had cartoons, too, though I don’t recall any specific ones.

      1. I just read the article on this show. Seems the death of two sons inspired him to produce the show, which aired to 1966 when he died of lymphoma. IU wonder how many local children’s shows there were since there was a time before Reagan when television stations were required to produce and broadcast a certain number of hours of public service programming. I think these programs helped meet that requirement, which had to be met as part of the relicensing process the went through back rthen.
